Each morning I woke up with great anticipation of the day and each night fell into bed feeling grateful.

The animals of course were, well just that fabulous.

One of the things I was most taken with Gen was your connection with everyone. I watched the way the children and women were drawn to you, and the honesty and warmth you shared.

And of course the drivers...Elia was very sincere when he said that you were the best and their favorite!

Sample Safari—Northern Tanzania Itinerary With Zanzibar Extension

(all itineraries are uniquely customizable)

 
 

Day 1    Depart USA via Europe 

Day 2-3    Arrive in Arusha, Tanzania at JRO (Kilimanjaro International Airport) and transfer to Arumeru River Lodge.

Enjoy Arusha town tours, lunch at Shanga and Mt. Meru game viewing and walking tour. 

Day 4-6    Drive to Tarangire National Park for game drives and overnight stay.

Permanent luxury tents overlook a river running through the savannah far below.

Tarangire Safari Lodge

Day 7-9    Enjoy a scenic drive to the Plantation Lodge, in the highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Relax in the Eden-like setting of a working coffee plantation surrounded by gardens, native plants, and spectacular vistas.

Choose from activities such as a visit to the elephant caves, a nature hike or a visit to the local secondary school.

Next day, enjoy a Ngorongoro Crater Tour: our leader, Donatus, is the head Conservation Ranger in charge of Black rhinoceros protection and preservation and knows them by name.

Plantation Lodge

Day 10-11    Drive to the Lake Eyasi area and travel back in time with the Tatoga, Blacksmith and Bushmen tribes of Tanzania.

Watch them make their clothing from hides, melt metal for arrow tips and hunt in the early morning hours.

The birding along the lake is amazing and the giant palm forest is unique to the area.

Kisima Ngeda Tented Lodge (voted the best food of all lodges)

Day 12-13     Drive through Ngorongoro Caldera and Conservation Area for a full day tour.

The world’s only intact rim of a collapsed volcano, it is teeming with wildlife and is often termed the eighth Wonder of the World and a “Garden of Eden.”

Proceed to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area with game drives en route.

Also visit Maasai villages and the Odupai Museum (where the Leakeys discovered “Lucy” the oldest known humanoid and other archeological treasures).

Deluxe Wilderness Tented Camp

Day 14-15    Travel the vast Serengeti plains with game drives en route and vistas as far as the eye can see—teeming with wildebeest and zebra on their great migration.

Full day game drives in the Serengeti.

(Early morning hot-air balloon flight is optional and an exceptional experience).

Serengeti Sopa Lodge

Day 16     Safari Group:  Fly to Arusha, relax in a hotel day room and then board return flights to the USA, arriving the following day.

Zanzibar Extension Group:  Fly to Arusha, then on to Zanzibar; enjoy a walking tour of historic Stone Town.

Tembo Hotel

Day 17-19    Enjoy a morning of shopping, then travel to a beach hotel after stopping for a tour of a Spice Farm.

(Jozani monkey tour, The Rock Restaurant and optional water activities available.)

Next Paradise Boutique Resort  

Day 20    Fly from Zanzibar to Dar es Salaam. (DAR). Relax in a hotel day room prior to departing in the late evening or early morning for the USA.

Day 21    Arrive in the USA.

 

What’s Included:

On Safari: 

All lodging, meals, transportation and in-country flights during the safari.

Tours, park fees, minimal driver/guide tips, unlimited fuel, coffee and tea throughout the day, bottled water on game drives, and bottled water in most lodge rooms are included as well.

On Extensions, such as Zanzibar:

Meals may be on a B&B basis; please inquire.

What’s Not Included:

International round trip airfare to destination, visas, vaccinations, driver/guide and lodge/hotel staff tips, drinks (including water) ordered with meals, laundry, travel insurance, and personal purchases.
